What is Somatic Embodiment Yoga?

Somatic Embodiment Yoga is a Trauma-Informed Somatic based Yoga Practice, created by Stefani Wilton of the Mandorla Yoga Institute.

Rooted in Yoga Therapy Wisdom, it emphasizes restorative and nurturing postures that promote resilience in your nervous system and a reclamation of your body. This deep connection allows you to listen to the language of your body, be with, and move through your emotions at your own pace.

In Somatic Embodiment Yoga, we focus on the body’s current state and use gentle exploration to foster deeper awareness and connection within the body.

Instead of creating sequences and flowing through postures, we invite you to notice how your body feels and moves using intentional asana as a guide to explore and change the patterns we carry in our bodies.

For example: if you are in a pose like child’s pose, you would be encouraged to bring your awareness to how your spine and back body feel in that posture, the sensations, and what happens when you adjust or change your position.

The main focus is for you to discover what feels right for you, for your body, in each moment.
